How to Measure for Wallpaper

Measuring carefully helps you choose the correct panel height and quantity for your wall.

    the Full Width


    Measure from one side of the wall to the other. Do not subtract windows, doors, closet openings, trim, or other openings.

    the Full Height


    Measure from the bottom of the wall to the highest point. For angled or vaulted ceilings, use the tallest measurement.

Important Measuring Rule: Measure the Full Wallpapered Area

Windows, doors, closet openings, trim, and other openings within the wallpapered area are trimmed during installation. Include them in your full width and height measurements.
Do not subtract them.

If your wallpaper will begin above wainscoting or another fixed feature, measure from the top of that feature to the highest point of the wallpapered area.

    • Each wallpaper panel is 19 inches wide and panels are installed from
      left to right in order.
    • Please order all panels needed for your wall at the same time, as later print runs
      may not be an exact color match.
    • We highly recommend ordering one extra panel to allow for installation errors, future repairs, or replacement if part of your wall is ever damaged.
    • This is especially helpful because custom-printed wallpaper may not match perfectly if additional panels are ordered later.

Why do I measure across windows and doors?

Your wallpaper is printed in full vertical panels rather than cut around openings before printing.

Include windows, doors, closet openings, trim, and other openings within the wallpapered area in your full measurements. These areas are accounted for during installation.

Do not subtract them from your wall width or height.

If your wallpaper will begin above wainscoting or another fixed feature, measure from the top of that feature to the highest point of the wallpapered area.

How do I measure a vaulted or angled ceiling?

Measure your wall at its tallest point.

Order every panel for that wall at the tallest height needed so the numbered panel sequence remains intact. Do not mix panel heights or rearrange panels within the same wall.

How many panels do I need?

Each panel is 19 inches wide.

To estimate your panel quantity, divide your full wall width in inches by 19 and round up.

For example:
95 inches wide = 5 panels
114 inches wide = 6 panels
133 inches wide = 7 panels

Why should I round up?

Wallpaper is sold in full panels. If your calculation is not a whole number, round up to the next full panel so the entire wall is covered.

Rounding down could leave part of your wall uncovered.

Why do I need to order all panels at once?

Wallpaper is printed in batches. Slight color shifts can happen between separate print runs.

For the best colour match and pattern alignment, order all the panels you need
at the same time.

Why does panel order matter?

Each panel is printed in sequence and should be installed from left to right.

Please do not skip, swap, or install panels out of order. Installing panels out of sequence may cause the pattern to not line up correctly.

What if I am wallpapering more than one wall?

Measure each wall separately.

If the wallpaper will continue around a corner as one uninterrupted installation, add the wall widths together and use the tallest height needed.

If the walls are separate or will use different designs, calculate each wall individually.

Can I reorder more panels later?

You can reorder panels later, but we strongly recommend ordering everything you need at the same time.

Separate print runs may have slight colour variations, and additional panels may not align exactly with your existing installation. Careful measuring and ordering an extra panel can help prevent shortages later.
